With the way things are nowadays (throughout the country and throughout the world), more and more people are either being told to work from home or they’re making the choice on their own to work from home!
Working from home comes with its own hurdles to overcome compared to working in a separate building. I’ve been working from home for over 6 months and it can be really hard to focus! You’re used to going to a separate building to work and your home just doesn’t feel like your “work space.”
These 10 home office essentials are meant to increase productivity and make it a more comfortable spot that you actually want to work in!
Signature & Address Stamp
This stamp allows you to upload an image of your ACTUAL signature before you even add it to your cart. So, no worries about a generic font, it’s all you, girl!!
It’s cheap and super efficient so it won’t break the bank but it’s definitely a “bang for your buck” (You’re a boss who’s booked and busy…no one has time to manually sign documents anymore!).
Also, with this return address stamp, you can pick any style and font you want so get a little fancy!
Both of these stamps are self-inking so no hassle with those messy ink pads!
Standing Adjustable Desk
Not only is this good for your back and overall posture but it helps you BURN calories as well!
It’s not good to sit at a desk all day and everyone knows it (so why do we keep doing it)? Investing in a great desk doesn’t have to be costly but you’re realistically going to pay at least $200 to get a desk that fits your needs.
I’ve used this one before and absolutely loved it! It’s easy to set-up (which after literally building and re-building every piece of furniture in our house, this is a blessing to all lol). It’s still under $300 and the truly great thing about it is that it’s electric! You just press a button on the side of the desk to move it up and down!
They also come in different colors so pick the one that best matches your décor/style!
Okay, time to up the ante, sis!
If your budget will allow it, you ABSOLUTELY NEED not one, but TWO screens (also quick side note: start saving to be able to invest in your future…stay ready so you don’t have to get ready, sis!).
Invest in 2 monitors for your home office and save yourself all of that precious time focused on just one task and now being able to multitask like you’ve got 5 pairs of hands behind your back!
Trust me, once you switch to dual screens there is no going back. Thank God for my previous job introducing me to dual screens and making completing tasks a breeze (especially working a job that tries to make you ride 2 horses with one ass aka wear multiple hats within your position lol).
Dual screens make life so much easier and you get some of your day back not dedicated to work!!
Most people (much like myself) already have a coffee maker in their kitchen and use it faithfully.
Kick it up a notch, and always have your coffee (or tea) at an arm’s length while you work by putting in a smaller coffee maker on your desk. An old supervisor of mine had one in her office, the conference room, and one in the staff lunchroom (talk about a caffeine addiction) but it inspired me to always have one readily available.
With a coffee maker like this one, you can easily tuck it away or leave it out without it taking up too much space (and they come in some bomb colors so pick your poison)!
So, you have your coffee machine in your office and your fresh coffee but you like to take your time sipping and enjoying that cup of coffee. Fast forward 2 hours later and it’s now a cold, sad mess that you either reheat in the microwave or just toss it out.
Don’t worry, I’ve been there and am not really one to chug hot s*** as I’ve burned my tongue more times than I can count by drinking way too fast (eager beaver over here).
Stop drinking cold coffee and get you one of these bad boys! Obviously, I love everything that comes in a variety of cute colors as does this mug warmer. There are 3 temperature settings and will automatically shut off after 4 hours therefore it’s safe to use while you work.
Mug warmers keeps your coffee warm without you racing the clock to finish it or constantly making a fresh cup!
When I was in high school, my school gave out yearly planners and since I’m obsessed with being organized, I LOVED them (is this just me or nah?).
Since high school, I’ve had to buy my own planners on my own time but hey, it’s adulting right?
It can be hard trying to remember everything you need to do. Especially now that work and home life are mixed, it’s best to keep all your to-dos together in one place, sis.
I’ve tried a few different planners and my personal favorites currently are the Passion Planners and the Legend Planner. With these planners, you can easily organize your schedule on a daily/weekly basis and set weekly/monthly/YEARLY goals (you have no excuse to not get s*** done now)!
There’s also free space so you can make it a personal journal and be creative however you want. The covers are pretty creative too as they have leather and suede designs that’ll have you in awe.
Blue Light Glasses
If you’re anything like me, you had absolutely no f***ing clue what “Blue light glasses” were until someone wearing them in the cubicle next to you raves about how ah-mayzing they are (true story, sis).
Blue Light glasses help relieve the strain on your eyes from staring at a computer screen (or any screen) for extended periods of time. These are super cheap, many styles to choose from, and come in a variety pack of 3 so you can leave them in different areas of your house (or your car as these are also good for seeing clearer while driving)!
Now, if you’re going to be sitting for long periods of time then you might as well be comfortable!
Number 1, choose a chair like you would choose your bra (no joke, sis). It should be soft, supportive, and above all else, it should be comfortable! But if you’re working with what you got, at least have a good support pillow for your back to make the chair more functional and less harsh on you.
This lumbar support pillow is made with memory foam and you can secure it to your chair so it’s not constantly moving while you work!
Greenery & Zen Décor
Add some splashes of color and little, positive things to your workspace can really transform it into a minimal, Zen, and inspiring place to work! So, get a few low-maintenance plants or flowers for your desk and add in positive quotes like this inspiring wall art to keep you optimistic throughout the day.
Even adding a mini zen garden can maximize the positivity and cool vibes in your home office (as well as provide some relaxing play when you need a break)!
Now don’t go having a wild, crazy dance party (although you may be tempted to do a little shoulder shimmy while you work…do it lol), but definitely have some tunes lightly playing in the background.
Some people prefer to play light acoustics or classical but by all means if you love a little reggaeton or pop mixes then play them! Listen to whatever is going to keep you in a good mood (and on task)!
This Bluetooth speaker is small but girllllll, she is one MIGHTY chick! The battery lasts up to 15 hours so you don’t have to worry about it dying for a couple of work shifts. And although you do not need her to be as loud as a concert speaker she can definitely compete (you can pair her with another one of these bad boys and you’ve got DOUBLE the sound!!).
It’s small and lightweight so it’s great to move around the house and use when you’ve actually squeezed a dance sesh into your schedule.
No matter where you’re working, make your space an enjoyable place to work. It doesn’t have to be stark white walls and nothing but a clock ticking in the background. Add a little pizzazz and you’d be surprised how much more you get done in your day!
What’s your home office must-have? Do you listen to music while you work or do you need complete silence to stay on track? Let me know in the comments!
